Tuesday 10th November - walk ***** - Martlesham Creek circuit – sunny,
still and warm.
The unseasonable sunny, warm and still weather continues so after a morning
at home we again make a flask of homemade soup and drove over to Martlesham
Church just after midday:) We have crystal clear blue skies which set off
the autumn leaves a treat:) We have a walk around the Church before heading
down through the wood to the end of Martlesham Creek and with the tide low
there are lots of birds feeding in the mud. I have again brought my big
lens as we have seen Bearded Tits there in the past, we even found my
mono-pod as I had trouble focusing last Sunday, sadly no Tits today but no
less stunning. Reaching the River Deben we turn right and have our lunch by
the boat shed at the beautiful Kyson point. We sit here for the best part
of an hour taking in the peace and quit enjoying the wildlife which today
included a Red Kite, Curlews, Egrets, Lapwings, Swans, Redshanks, Oyster
Catchers, Teal, Widgeon and Geese set against a backdrop of blue sky with
red and gold leaves:) Well rested we return on the footpath inland away
from the creek past some swanky houses down past the sewage works and back
to the van another 5 Star day here in Suffolk, just perfect:)
